The Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) is a blueprint for maintaining and enhancing the regional transportation system. The LRTP identifies roadway, transit, bicycle and pedestrian, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), and other improvements needed over the next 25 years. Developing the LRTP is a collaborative effort between the public, local governments, and state and federal partners.

To ensure projects are scheduled for completion,  the TPO will rank and update the annual needs and priorities of the region, storing the most recent list of Project Priorities for the Long Range Transportation Plan. Then, in that fifth year, they maintain the existing projects in motion, incorporate new priorities from the past five years, and remove completed projects, resulting in an updated and accurate forecast for 2050.
